Ailish Slaney: Miracle Kid and Milky Tea

Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation

On June 6th and 7th of this year, the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation held its 31st annual Janeway Children’s Miracle Network Telethon throughout the province. The Telethon raised more than $3 million dollars – setting a new record in support of services and equipment for the Janeway Health and Rehabilitation Centre.

This generous support helps our health care professionals to provide the best possible care to the children of Newfoundland and Labrador. The result: hundreds of positive outcomes for our patients and their families. Sometimes, the outcomes seem nothing short of miraculous!

During the Telethon, viewers were treated to several stories about these ‘miracle kids,’ – their families and health care teams. Over the next several weeks, courtesy of the Janeway Foundation, we will re-post these stories on StoryLine – stories sure to warm your heart!

She was diagnosed with what Ailish calls a “bump on the brain” and had to undergo not only delicate brain surgery – but rounds of intense chemotherapy and radiation.

But as long as Ailish has her tea with Carnation milk, all is good! ■
