Behind the Curtain: A Visit to the Janeway Emergency Department

On June 4th and 5th, the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation will hold its 32nd annual Janeway Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, broadcasting on NTV. The Telethon raises funds in support of services and equipment for the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre.

The support shown each year by the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador during the Janeway Telethon is always nothing short of tremendous. These kind donations help our health-care professionals to provide the best possible care to the children of Newfoundland and Labrador. The result: hundreds of positive outcomes for our patients and their families. Sometimes, the outcomes seem nothing short of miraculous!

During last year’s Telethon, viewers were treated to several stories about the health-care teams who care for patients at the Janeway. This week, courtesy of the Janeway Foundation, we are posting one of these stories on StoryLine – take a look behind the scenes of the Janeway Emergency Department!

The staff at the Janeway Emergency Department care for our children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – with approximately 92 patient visits per day.

The Janeway Foundation had an opportunity to visit with Dr. Ian Marshall and Dr. Carolyn Cashin during one of their many shifts in the Janeway Emergency. Watch the short video below. ■
