A huge congratulations to the Janeway Foundation, the volunteers and all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians for making this year’s telethon a huge success.
Once again the people of Newfoundland and Labrador rallied in support of the 2018 Janeway Telethon with a final total of $3,336,270. These donations ensure that the latest in diagnostic and advanced technology will be at the fingertips of the Janeway Hospital’s medical team.
“I would like to congratulate the Janeway Foundation and all the volunteers involved in this year’s telethon for another very successful year. Thank you for your commitment to children’s health in our province,” said David Diamond, President and CEO of Eastern Health. “On behalf of Eastern Health, I also extend my sincere appreciation to all the individuals and groups who so generously donated toward the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre again this year.”
Due to the success of this year’s Telethon, the Janeway Foundation will provide funds for the purchase of the following items, to name a few:
- Expansion of Medical Daycare Unit;
- New Emergency Department information system that tracks patient flow through various departments throughout the Janeway;
- Additional equipment for Rehabilitation and Development Program;
- Microscopes for the OR; and
- Children’s Mental Health and Addictions programs.
“It has been an incredible Telethon weekend and we are truly grateful to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador for their continued support,” said Lynn Sparkes, President and CEO, Janeway Foundation. “On behalf of the Janeway Foundation’s Board of Directors and staff, and most importantly our province’s children, I want to thank all our donors and volunteers for their commitment to improving children’s health care here at home.”
Below are the stories that captured our hearts over the weekend.
